CIVILIAN Hotel Reviews
I stayed at Civilian Hotel on my first solo trip to New York City and absolutely loved it. The boutique-style room was beautiful, cozy, and super clean. The whole hotel has a great vibe.Jesus and Seiko at the front desk were amazing. So friendly, welcoming, and helpful. They really made me feel comfortable and taken care of.The location is perfect. Just a short walk to Broadway and Times Square, which made getting around super easy.Only small thing is that the food portions could be better, but honestly, it's NYC & you can find great food anywhere. All in all, I 100% recommend Civilian Hotel and will definitely be staying here again. Thank you for making my first solo trip to the Big Apple so memorable! -Brittany B.
Apr 28, 2025 · B BI love their decorator’s attention to detail as well as their taste and style. It’s just a very cool room and the bath, set back into an alcove — and separated by a large old fashioned looking wood door with opaque glass panes — is a spectacular space as well as functional. I will try to get a lower room next time so as to use the stairs, which I prefer for the exercise, but 16 floors is too many. During busy times of the day there was a wait of a few minutes for the elevator. But there are 3, so it means they are busy which speaks well for the place. Water “hydration units” built into the wall on each floor were a great idea, and worked well. So convenient and totally free. Complimentary coffee and tea at breakfast. Staff was very friendly and helpful. After checkout, I stored my luggage for a day for free.
May 30, 2025 · Jean Santa MariaMy brother and I stayed in a spacious double double and (despite the fact that NYC hotel prices in general are tough to swallow) we were definitely well satisfied with our room and the facilities. Everything was clean, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. Of course, we didn't stay super long in our room, but it was a great place to crash. It was our first visit to NYC, and I would highly recommend this hotel for any visitors not well aware of NYC. Lots of great food just steps from your door- and right near the metro. Tourist attractions are very close if that's what you're looking to do...central park is walking distance as well.We liked the customizability of our stay as well. You can pay extra for earlier check in, later check out, and housekeeping. Or not- it's pretty much up to you.If I find myself in NYC again, I would definitely stay here.
May 20, 2025 · BethStayed at the Civilian for a short trip to NYC with my mom to check out a Broadway show. We booked the room with the two twin beds and got the one on the 6th floor. I thought the room would be quite small but to my surprise, was very spacious and well played laid out! Bathroom was lovely and the blackout blinds were a really nice touch. The walk to Broadway / Times Square was under 5 minutes and we absolutely loved the location. Customer service was 10/10 - being able to communicate via WhatsApp was such a convenient touch. Would recommend to anyone looking for a lovely hotel close to amenities and for a unique vibe and atmosphere.Only small issue (which isn’t really a massive deal) was that we could hear conversations in the hallway / the room beside ours pretty clearly which made it a bit difficult when going to bed. Otherwise, wonderful stay!
Apr 29, 2025 · Alyssa MatchettI typically love boutique hotels for their charm, but this one really missed the mark in terms of space and convenience. We stayed in a spacious queen room—which was actually an upgrade from the “cozy” queen—and I still had to climb over my husband to get out of bed. I can’t imagine how cramped the smaller rooms must be.Another issue was the room access. We were traveling with family, and since there’s only one spacious queen per floor, we ended up separated. Your room key only works for your assigned floor, so we had to get extra keys to visit each other, and those kept getting deactivated. Definitely not ideal. It also would’ve been really helpful to have a mini fridge in the room.On the plus side, the staff was friendly and everything was clean—but unfortunately, that’s not enough to make me want to return with my family.
