Mayfair Hotel, Ascend Hotel Collection Reviews
Absolutely beautiful hotel that's right at times square and near all the Broadway shows. We had the 2 bed room and it was very spacious, very clean, house keeping came by daily and we're super polite and seemed as though they enjoyed their job. All of the front desk staff were courteous. We arrived in NYC earlier than check in and I was pleasantly surprised that they allowed us to store our bags at the hotel while we walked around until our room was ready. It was just a great experience overall. There was a lot of construction outside of our room which was loud and distracting, but we were usually so exhausted we had no issues going to sleep or sleeping through it. Hotel elevator is very small compared to some elevators, but works efficiently and moves quickly. Definitely would stay here again and highly recommend it!
May 30, 2025 · Destiny RDHBefore you book this hotel, please double-check the room names — they’re oddly labeled in a way that’s honestly confusing and misleading. I’ve stayed at many places, but never seen naming like this. It might just be me, but something felt off from the start. The photos online don’t reflect reality at all. Most rooms — including the one we got — had terrible views. Ours faced nothing but a dull concrete wall, which felt incredibly unfair considering the price. The bathroom was the biggest letdown. Outdated is an understatement. It looked like they tried to cover up years of wear with a quick clean around the edges, but the deeper you looked, the worse it got. The toilet placement was a joke — crammed right next to the door with barely enough space to sit. I had to sit sideways, which is ridiculous for any hotel, let alone one charging this much. The sink area was straight-up unpleasant — stained, yellow, and just gave off the wrong kind of vibes. It was not comfortable, not clean, and definitely not worth the price tag.Overall, I’d give the experience a 5/10 — and that’s being generous. Yes, it’s in downtown Manhattan, but location alone doesn’t justify the poor quality. Hotels are about experience, and unfortunately, this one failed to deliver.
May 25, 2025 · abdullahi bilalHad a decent stay here. Building was older and room was very small, but nice. As mentioned in previous reviews, no view, but for a short stay it wasn’t an issue. Would consider staying again and seeking a larger room next time.Very close to the subway so that was a plus coming in from out of town! Times Square is also a short walk away.
May 30, 2025 · Sydney HunteWe had a confirmed reservation at this hotel for three guests—my husband, my daughter, and myself. We arrived around 12:30 AM, completely exhausted after a long day of travel, only to be told by the manager on duty, Mr. Fu, that we could not all check in because our daughter was “too old” to be included under the existing reservation. This restriction was never mentioned during booking, and instead of helping, Mr. Fu was rude, dismissive, and completely unwilling to find a solution. It felt like he was purposefully being unhelpful—for reasons best known to him. No effort was made to accommodate us or even explain things respectfully. As a result, my husband was forced to spend the entire night outside on the street, while my daughter and I stayed in the room, worried sick about his safety. We were in an unfamiliar city, and the situation caused us an immense amount of stress and fear all night. This was hands down one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve ever had. The lack of professionalism, compassion, and basic human decency from the management was shocking.I would strongly advise others to avoid this hotel. There are many places in NYC where guests—especially families—are treated with the respect and care they deserve. This is not one of them.
Apr 19, 2025 · S DThis hotel is nothing fancy but was clean and comfortable. The noise level was nice too...I didn't hear neighbors at all! The rooms are a bit small, but I find that is common around many affordable hotels in NYC. The location can't be beat, with Times Square, shops, and great restaurants and bars within a couple of blocks. The check-in/out process was smooth and the staff was very friendly. Would recommend for the budget-conscious traveler!
