The rooms themselves are a rare find in bustling Manhattan – described by guests as "spacious enough to get ready for a show," exceptionally clean, and surprisingly quiet, guaranteeing a restful night's sleep even amidst the city's energy. Add to this the allure of Parker & Quinn, the hotel's acclaimed restaurant, Winnie's Jazz Lounge, offering live music in the evenings, and the spectacular Refinery Rooftop, which provides stunning city views and a vibrant atmosphere, and you have a hotel that truly has "soul and spirit." The complimentary wine offered in the lobby during evenings further enhances the welcoming and communal vibe, making the Refinery Hotel an experience that guests "will certainly be back" for.

Refinery Hotel Reviews
Book this hotel. There are plenty of options nearby but nothing like Refinery Hotel. We stayed with our teenage daughters for 5 days and everything was on point. Rooms were spacious enough to get ready for a show, centrally located to walk to Broadway, Central Park, Times Square, Empire State Building, NY Library, and subway entrance near by as well. Incredible how quiet the hotel was and how well we slept after a day of exploring. Staff was wonderful and hotel smells amazing from burning their own candle.
May 30, 2025 · Aaron WIt was an exceptional stay at the Refinery Hotel. The staff was wonderful. At check in, an upgrade was available (larger King studio), and the concierge was attentive, quick, and knowledgeable. The hotel itself is historic, chic, and extremely comfortable. The room was large and well appointed with quality materials. Beautiful large bathroom with toiletries and amenities. Complimentary wine in the evening at the lobby was an added bonus. I had meals at both the rooftop and Parker and Quinn. The rooftop was good for afternoon/evening vibes: fun crowd, bar service, delicious food, and view. Parker and Quinn served up a good breakfast. All wait staff were attentive, timely, and kind. Jazz in the evenings at the lobby bar. I highly recommend this stay as it has soul and spirit. I will certainly be back. Thank you!
Apr 08, 2025 · Timothy DunnOur family of four stayed at the Refinery Hotel for a week, and we had an amazing time! As soon as we walked in, the cozy vibe and the awesome scent in the lobby made us feel right at home. The staff was awesome, always opening the door for us and greeting us whenever we passed through. Big shoutout to Morgan and Bryan at the front desk. They were so helpful and attentive, which made our stay even better! We stayed in a deluxe double queen room, and it was fantastic! Super spacious, spotless, and the beds were incredibly comfy. I especially loved the cozy seating area. It was the perfect spot to relax and unwind with a book after a long day of exploring. The location is great and made it easy to explore all of Manhattan. The subway is just a quick walk away, and it's only 10 minutes to Times Square and 5 minutes to Bryant Park, making getting around a breeze. We loved this hotel and will definitely be back.
Feb 27, 2025 · Catherine C.I had an amazing stay. From the moment I arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Everyone was incredibly friendly, helpful, and attentive to every detail. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was top-notch. The room was spotless, comfortable, and well-appointed, making my stay even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a fantastic experience. I can’t wait to return!
Mar 11, 2025 · Kourtney SyI recently stayed at The Refinery, booking through the American Express Platinum Card “Hotel Collection,” which set high expectations for a five-star experience. While there were some memorable highlights, a few areas fell short of the luxury I anticipated.Highlights:⭐ Exceptional Staff: The checkout team was outstanding, graciously extending our checkout time when our luggage broke, offering immense relief and allowing us to purchase a new suitcase stress-free. The bellman was equally attentive, efficiently arranging our transfer service to JFK.🛏️ Comfort and Cleanliness: The beds were incredibly comfortable and the sheets looked very clean—something I always scrutinize upon arrival. The rooms were somewhat spacious, providing a pleasant environment.🔇 Peaceful Ambiance Despite Bar Crowd: While the nighttime bar crowd created a bit of frustration with the constant flow of people in and out of the hotel, we were pleasantly surprised that the rooftop partying didn’t disturb us, maintaining a peaceful environment in our room.Areas for Improvement:❄️ Air Conditioning Issues: The AC wasn’t functional upon arrival. Although it was promptly repaired after contacting the front desk, this initial inconvenience set an unfortunate tone.🧹 Slow Housekeeping Service: Basic requests took far too long—45 minutes for an extra pillow and nearly an hour for a blanket, even after follow-up calls.🚿 Poor Shower Experience: Weak water pressure made rinsing difficult, and the shower door didn’t close properly, adding to the frustration.💡 Inadequate Bathroom Lighting: A non-functional light above the toilet left the bathroom dim. The makeup mirror’s light didn’t work either; even the replacement flickered with poor illumination.🪑 Subpar Furniture Quality: Drawers were broken and unusable for storing clothes, which was disappointing.🔌 Limited Outlets: Only one outlet was available beside the bed. My husband had to charge his phone in the bathroom, and I had to unplug items to use the single outlet.🧼 Carpet & Common Area Maintenance: The carpets in hallways and rooms appeared dirty and worn. Common areas lacked the pristine upkeep expected from a five-star hotel, feeling more like a budget motel. The dark, grungy black-painted hallways and doors were uninviting.Overall Impression:The hotel’s peaceful ambiance—a rare luxury in NYC—and attractive price point were definite perks. Despite the bustling bar crowd at night, the quietness in our room was a relief. However, the overall experience didn’t meet the five-star luxury promised by Amex’s platform. I might consider staying again at the same rate, but I wouldn’t pay more. It’s a decent option for budget-conscious travelers seeking quiet accommodations, but it’s important to manage expectations regarding luxury and service.
